Real Estate Social Media Tips – Use Google Alerts!
Google Alerts is a great tool that you can use to monitor what is being said about you, your competitors and your real estate market - and it’s free.
Google alerts are email updates that you receive form Google containing search results based on your search parameters. Instead of logging into Google and conducting a search, you can set up an automated search that will send you daily results.
Why do you need this service?
It’s important to know what’s happening in your local market, what people are saying about you and what’s going on with your competitors.
Every time someone publishes your search terms Google will email you a link to that post. I set my alert notification to once a day. Read more..
Quality versus Quantity! What’s your Real Estate Social Media Strategy?
by Ross Hair on August 26, 2010
in Social Media
There’s a raging debate about how you should market your real estate business using social media.
Should you connect with as many potential clients as quickly as possible (quantity) or should you build relationships one at a time (quality)?
On one side are the internet marketers who understand how to “push” a message to their target audience. Internet marketers see social networks as a marketing platform where you connect with new “friends” and then use the connection to send a message to those friends. For internet marketers it’s all about building a list of contacts and then marketing to the list.
On the other side is the new social marketer who believes that marketing must be done through participation and interaction with your customer. Social marketers believe that the keyword is the word “social” and that it’s all about participation and engagement. Read more..
WordPress Plugins – Social Media Icons
One of the cool WordPress plugins that you can add to your blog is a Social Media Icon Plugin.
I use the Social Media Widget by Brian Freytag (look to the right) and it effortlessly and professionally allows me to publish links and icons for the main social networks.
To get your Social Media widget, go to the plugins directory and search for “social media widget”.
You will need to drag the widget into your blog and edit it to link to your social network accounts.
Frugal WordPress Theme
The Social Media Advocate blog is built on the WordPress platform with the Frugal Premium Theme.
I use the Frugal Theme in most of my blogs because it really is insanely customizable and simple to use. It reminds me a great deal of a WordPress theme favored by many top bloggers – the Thesis theme.
The key to the Frugal theme is that it allows you to use text widgets to customize your look and feel. It’s very easy to insert html or java script into a text widget and add critical things like email capture forms to your blog.
You can purchase the Frugal theme at www.frugaltheme.com.
